A woman cycling at Mount Maunganui has been taken to Tauranga Hospital following a near collision with a truck.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was cycling with a friend near the Totara St and Triton St intersection about 11am.
Police at the scene said the woman enteredthe intersection and nearly collided with an oncoming truck but both the cyclist and truck driver managed to stop in time.
The woman suffered cuts and bruises after her sudden stop and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The incident resulted in emergency services being called to the scene and traffic being banked up in the area for a short while.
