The identity of a Mount Maunganui man charged with a serious wounding offence after the stabbing of a man in Ohauiti Rd on Sunday has been suppressed.
The defendant, aged 36, faced a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm when he appeared in Tauranga District Court today.
This is a charge which attracts a maximum sentence of 14-years in prison.
The man stabbed on Ohauiti Rd on Sunday was taken to hospital with minor stab wounds.
The man's lawyer Paul Mabey QC asked Judge Peter Rollo to suppress the defendant's identity.
