Not one person said no to Ken Evans in half a day collecting goods for Foodbank.
Mr Evans, a member of Tauranga Sunrise Lions Club, hit the streets of Tauranga on Saturday for the club's annual can drive.
The club collected an estimated $3000 of food from residents living between 11th Avenue and 18th Avenue, and both sides of Cameron Rd to the end of the peninsula.
Mr Evans said donations ranged from a large assortment of cans, drinks and chocolates to noodles, potatoes and onions. "The people were just wonderful, we were so thrilled with the Tauranga people, they gave so generously. We were struggling back to the wagon with bags full of stuff, it was really inspiring.
"There was such a positive attitude, when we said 'Foodbank' people said 'yes'. I didn't strike one person that said 'no'."
