Armed police on Leander St and Links Ave

Police has removed the cordon on Crane St.

The road has been re-opened and police officers are now focussing on one property on Crane St.

UPDATED 12.38pm:

Lachlan Avenue has been cordoned off by police.

Road spikes have been placed on Crane St.

Around 12 police cars are now in the area.

Armed police officers are searching several properties on Crane St using dogs.

EARLIER:

Armed police are carrying out an operation on Leander Street and Links Ave, Mount Maunganui.

They were called to the area at around 11.15am this morning.

A reporter at the scene said there are around 8 police cars present.

It appears that they are searching a vehicle.
