One lucky Tauranga Lotto player will have an extra reason to relax this long weekend after taking home a top prize.

Taking out the Lotto First Division in Saturday nights draw with $500,000, the winning Lotto ticket was sold at Paper Plus Mount Maunganui in Tauranga.

Meanwhile, one lucky MyLotto player from Hamilton is taking home $16.5 million with Powerball First Division in the live Lotto draw plus $500,000 from Lotto First Division.

Tonight's winner is the eleventh Powerball winner already this year and comes a month after an Auckland player won $12.3 million with Powerball First Division.

The winner couldn't believe his luck when he discovered that he had won and is looking forward to setting his family up for the future.

Strike Four was also won tonight by a player from Spring Creek, who took home $200,000. The winning Strike ticket was sold at Spring Creek Four Square in Spring Creek.

Last weekend a Tauranga grandmother won $1 million with Lotto First Division.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, had no idea that her ticket was the luckiest ticket in town until her daughter sent her a text saying a local had just won big.

"I'd picked up a Triple Dip from Bayfair Shopping Centre on Thursday and stashed it away thinking nothing of it," the woman said.

"I didn't think about my ticket again until Sunday when my daughter messaged me saying she hoped I had bought a Lotto ticket from Bayfair because someone won Lotto from there.

"I replied straight away saying 'don't make me nervous – that's exactly where I bought it from'."

The winning ticket was sold at Bayfair Lotto in Mount Maunganui for the Lotto draw on Saturday, May 29.

Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of their ticket and check it at any Lotto NZ outlet, online at MyLotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App.

Players can phone Lotto NZ on 0800 695 6886 if they want to enquire about the best way to claim a prize.
