The death of 21-year-old Australian cheerleader Breeana Robinson, who fell from the 11th floor balcony of her boyfriend's luxury Gold Coast apartment in 2013, will be formally investigated.
The mystery of Robinson's death, which happened after cruise ship entertainer Dan Shearin bombarded her with 1439 text messages in 2013, will be examined in Southport Coroner's Court later this year.
Robinson's aunt Janine Mackney has fought for years to have an inquest properly establish what happened the night she fell from the balcony of Shearin's apartment.
Shearin, 44, and the 21-year-old had a brief relationship during which she moved into his apartment in the luxury high rise H20 building at Broadwater on the Gold Coast.
The one-time cruise ship entertainer was the first "real boyfriend" of Robinson, a cheerleader for the Gold Coast Titans who was legally blind from a congenital eye disease.
They lived together for just 38 days, during which he sent belittling texts calling her "a complete f***ing moron" and saying "I don't want a stupid, dumb **** in my life."
Just 10 minutes before Ms Robinson landed on the perspex awning below the apartment she was inside with Shearin, she received his last text message.
"You're more interested in TV, food and everything else but your partner. That's why everything's ruined. Your priorities are f***ed up," Shearin texted.
He was subsequently convicted of harassing Robinson with abusive texts and sentenced to a maximum six months prison.
The convicting magistrate called Shearin a "pig" but another judge sentence overturned the sentence on appeal saying he didn't deserve prison for just having "a bad personality".
Shearin was released after spending just 11 days behind bars and was awarded a good behaviour bond.
Queensland Coroner James McDougall will examine Robinson's death over five days from November 27.
He will investigate "the specific circumstances surrounding Breeana's death, particularly how she came to fall to her death".
In February last year, Dan Shearin pleaded guilty to stalking a woman he had met on a dating website and had abused after she ended their relationship.
Shearin was placed on 12 months' probation for cyber stalking the woman who he called a "sl**", a "bi***" and a "piece of s***".
Friends of Breeana Robinson's told news.com.au that the aspiring dancer had become interested in Shearin because he had promised to help her get work on cruise ships.
