Prime Minister Helen Clark says attacks on Labour by outgoing party president Bob Harvey are just parting shots.
Mr Harvey, in a leaked report to the party's ruling council, said two of Labour's major policy platforms - growing the economy and closing the gaps between Maori and Pakeha - were in danger of becoming bogged down.
He also criticised the party's election campaign headquarters as a joke, said there was no real communication with the party president, and the party was undervalued.
Helen Clark said last night that Mr Harvey, who is to step down next month, was firing off parting shots and was not saying anything "we haven't heard before."
There was no truth in his comments over the two policy planks and his criticism of the campaign was old hat, she said.
Mr Harvey and campaign director Mike Williams did not get on.
"But the point is, we did win the election; it can't have been all bad.
"The problem is, you've got fulltime professional politicians, people fulltime in Wellington and then a president in Auckland. Inevitably they're not as close to the day-by-day campaigning."
Mr Williams is seeking the party presidency.
