Police say there are no suspicious circumstances in the death of Hamilton student Cameron Murray, whose body was found yesterday in the Waikato River.
They believe the 21-year-old from Waikato University fell into the river the night he went missing, October 21.
A member of the public spotted his body floating in the river at Huntly. Volunteer firefighters and police staff used a rescue boat to retrieve it.
Mr Murray was last seen sitting alone outside Governors bar in Bryce St, central Hamilton.
He had left friends about 1 am at the Sohl Bar in Victoria St just a few hundred metres away.
Senior Sergeant Glenn Dunbier said an autopsy was carried out yesterday, and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
"It appears he fell in the river. We don't know where."
Mr Murray's flatmates, friends and family spent days scouring the river and distributing leaflets throughout the North Island in an effort to find him.
The family were not commenting yesterday. An uncle, Bryce Murray, said they just wanted time to remember his nephew in their own way.
The case will be referred to the coroner.
