THE Wanganui Winter Series wrapped up with the 10km race on Sunday and it was the Aramoho Wanganui Rowing Club's crew which won the coxed eights race.
Five crews, three from Wanganui Collegiate and one each from AWRC and Union Boat Club, contested the eights race, with AWRC finishing in 39m 54s, comfortably ahead of Collegiate's Under 17 boys (41m 47s) and the Under 18 boys (43m 43s) crews.
AWRC's crew was a combination of Under 23 and senior club members in Luke Watts, James Sandston, Hugh Pawson, Tom Monaghan, Adrian van Bussel, Adam Wadey, Zac Visser, Hamish Maxwell, and cox Ella Wilsher.
In the small boats race, which was decided on prognostic time - the highest percentage of the record time for each boat class - AWRC's Richard Brock and Trevor Rush finished in 49m 17s, which was line honours and with 71.72 per cent prognostic, saw them carry the day.
UBC's Pat Carroll was second in the four boat field, both to the line in 54m 49s and with 67.50 per cent of prognostic.
AWRC's Garth Hammond was third.
