Sport Whanganui have confirmed the Shelter View jetsprint track as the new venue for the annual McDonald's Mud Muster.
The property near Upokongaro will host the third instalment of the event in October.
In its first two years, the Mud Muster was held at Andrew and Kylie Stewart's Rangitikei Farmstay.
At the new venue, the event headquarters will be located at the jetsprint track and make use of the established amenities. The course will extend beyond the track and into the surrounding farmland, native bush, dams, bogs and a section of pine forest.
Landowners Richard and Julia Murray said it was a great chance for them to make further use of the facility.
"We saw an awesome opportunity to bring the event into Wanganui and, at the same time, profile the track to the general public," Mrs Murray said.
Sport Whanganui event manager Rachel O'Connor said the change in venue opened up new possibilities for the obstacle course.
The Mud Muster is designed for youth and adults, with fields to suit a range of ages and abilities. The 2015 edition will also include a teams event for the first time. Details about the October 17 event are on the Sport Whanganui website and the Sport Whanganui Facebook page.
