Wanganui goes into this weekend's national roller hockey championships having beaten defending champions Papatoetoe once.
That was in the New Plymouth Invitational, won by Wanganui with Papatoetoe third behind the home side.
In fact Wanganui has won four of five premier tournaments this year, according to club president David Grant, although it didn't travel to the Papatoetoe tournament.
"They [Papatoetoe] showed up at the New Plymouth Invitational and we won that," Grant said.
The championships cover three days this weekend at Springvale, starting at 12.30pm on Friday and going through to the finals on Sunday morning.
Wanganui is fielding one premier team, one second division, one youth ladies and one pee wee team.
The pee-wee class is for 10 and under boys and 12 and under girls.
Entries are confined to the four main clubs, Wanganui, Wellington, Papatoetoe and New Plymouth.
Wanganui can field two players with New Zealand experience, Blair Lockett and Dean fitness, while Joe Zinsli was MVP at last year's national tournament.
The tournament starts at 12.30pm on Friday, the Wanganui versus Papatoetoe Premiers game will follow the opening ceremony at 7.30pm.
