From Wonder Woman to Little Bo Peep the participants put some effort into getting dressed up for this year's Frocks on Bikes event in Whanganui's La Fiesta.
They came in kilts and on bicycles, roller skates and scooters to the Ladies' Rest building in St Hill St, ready to begin a circuit of central Whanganui.
Frocks on Bikes is one of co-ordinator Carla Donson's favourite events. She designs a new route every year, writes poems to direct people and creates puzzles for them to solve.
"It's not a race. The whole idea is we want people to enjoy our town," she said.
This year she sent them to Guyton St to sit on John Ballance's lap, up the hill to see how much money has been raised for a bronze statue of James K Baxter ($27,000), across to Pākaitore/Moutoa Gardens to see how old Major Kemp was when he died and into the information centre to find out about events on International Women's Day.
