Naturally, Mainstreet Whanganui's new chairman thinks the town centre is one of Whanganui's greatest assets.
Ross Fallen won a contested election last week and now heads an expanded board of 13 members.
It meets for the first time next week and over the coming year Mr Fallen said its priority would be to implement the recommendations of the recent review of the 27-year-old organisation.
The review suggested better communications and engagement with its 240 members in decision making, marketing Mainstreet beyond the district and continuing the vibrancy of the town centre, Mr Fallen said.
"Some felt they didn't have enough ownership about the things that were happening in the main street and this is what we need to attend to.
