After 10 years in Asia Duncan Ashby and Dionne Potaka have settled in Whanganui so their children can experience the good things of their own childhoods.
For Ms Potaka it was "coming home" - she was brought up at Kakatahi where her father Paul Potaka was the school principal. He's just retired after 18 years as a school principal in Nelson.
She's a teacher, and is relishing the chance to homeschool their children, 10-year-old Quinn and Eden, 6.
Mr Ashby, also a teacher, has sorely missed things like fishing, surfing and golf, and wants the children to have a chance to try them.
The family have spent most of the last 10 years in Asia, most recently three years at the private Utahloy International School in the city of Zengcheng, Guangzhou Province, China. Mr Ashby headed its primary school, Ms Potaka taught and the children both attended.
