A woman who nearly crashed into another car while driving drunk told police she had been out to Kaitoke Prison to see her son.
Rongopai Maria Davis was stopped by police on November 7 after someone made a complaint about her driving. Davis had crossed the centre line, nearly hitting an oncoming vehicle, police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler told the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. A breath test showed she had 912mcg of alcohol in her system, the legal limit is 250mcg.
Davis told police she went out to Kaitoke Prison to see her son, but they wouldn't let her in, Mr Butler said. Davis, who has three previous drink driving convictions, pleaded guilty to driving with excess breath alcohol third or subsequent.
Judge David Cameron remanded her to March 10 for sentencing.
