A man who made hoax calls to all three emergency services has pleaded guilty to a criminal nuisance charge.
Jordon James Marshall appeared in the Wanganui District Court where he also admitted a charge of possessing an offensive weapon.
On October 17 Marshall called 111 from his cellphone and said he had heard four gunshots and screaming. Four armed police officers responded but found no firearms or injured people. Later he phoned for the Fire Service reporting trees on fire and then called for an ambulance.
Police sergeant Rachel Willemsen told the court that at the time Marshall said "it was just a joke".
On October 25 Marshall was spoken to by police who noticed a 29cm knife in his bag. "He said he carried the knife for protection," Ms Willemsen said.
