It's official - the "cat cap" is coming to the Rangitikei.
From October 7, residents within the district will be allowed only three or fewer cats.
Pigs and bees are also outlawed.
The Animal Control Bylaw was passed - with few changes - by a unanimous vote at the last meeting of the current Rangitikei District Council yesterday.
As well as the "cat cap" - which has caused a bit of a flap - and banning pigs and bees from urban areas, the bylaw places a limit of 12 poultry per household unit, and limits people to no more than one stock unit per 1000 square metres of pasture within an urban area.
