Wanganui East pool is expected to open for the summer season this weekend as the trust operating the complex finalises its lifeguard roster.
The Chronicle had been told that there was some doubt over the opening because the trust did not have qualified staff but that has been rejected by trust member John Rhodes.
He said the trust was well aware of its requirements under terms of the contract it has with the district council to run the pool.
"That says we have to have qualified lifeguards on duty and we're working to have that completed in time for us to open for the season this weekend," he said.
Greg Morris, council's deputy property manager, said the trust's contract with council requires it to have two suitably qualified staff on duty at all times the pool is open.
