He's a man who tells it like it is.
Sir Colin Meads was in town over the weekend, attending the Stratford High School's first XV fundraiser, speaking about his career as an All Black and how the game has changed over the years.
``In our days, there was only ever one ref, not bloody touch judges and video replays,'' he said.
Sir Colin wished the team luck and said it was about time they returned home winners.
Taranaki's own Gordon Slater was the master of ceremony for the night and welcomed Sir Colin up, describing him as one of New Zealand's most inspiring players.
``What does one say to a crowd like this in Stratford. I'm amazed with the support of the community and of the school,'' Sir Colin said.
``We never had anything like this (Australian tour) when we were youngsters.''
The 26-strong squad will be playing six games on the Gold Coast in May and have been completing a range of fundraising activities, including haymaking, pulling out ragwort, chopping wood and crutching sheep.
