Cricket: Ryder declines chance to make Black Caps

Jesse Ryder's indicated he doesn't want to be part of the Black Cap's World Cup campaign.

Ryder's smashed 136 off 57 balls for Otago against Ireland at Lincoln, prompting calls for the controversial batsman to return to the national side.

However they've fallen on deaf ears with New Zealand Cricket confirming Ryder declined to play in the North South Twenty20 match and has also turned down an outside shot at playing in the upcoming Pakistan series.

RadioSport cricket commentator Bryan Waddle says his action ends his inclusion for the World Cup.

"If he's not 100 percent committed, then that's where the story ends to some degree.

"But I think that to a certain extent he's probably burnt a few bridges as well along the way with administrators and players in the team."

Waddle says it's another sad chapter in Ryder's career.

"If he wanted to play for New Zealand he would've made himself available for that and other opportunities and probably kills the possibility of having a potential match winner at the World Cup and in my mind that's pretty sad."

Ryder has signed up to play for the Melbourne Renegades in the Australian Big Bash Twenty20 tournament which begins December 19.
