SYDNEY (AP) Penrith back rower Sika Manu will miss six months of next year's National Rugby League season after undergoing left shoulder surgery.
The Panthers said Thursday that Manu had the operation after returning from England, where he played three matches for Tonga at the recent Rugby League World Cup.
The 26-year-old Manu also played 13 tests for New Zealand between 2008 and 2011 and was a member of the World Cup team that beat Australia in the 2008 final.
Manu was born in New Zealand of Tongan parents, making him eligible to play for either team.
