The Crusaders trip to the West Coast today which was organised as a tribute following the Pike River Mine disaster has been postponed.

Crusaders and All Blacks captain Richie McCaw along with Dan Carter, Sonny Bill Williams, Brad Thorn, Owen Franks, Sam Whitelock, Kieran Read, Andy Ellis and Ben Franks were set to visit Hokitika and Greymouth today but their flight was cancelled.

Strong nor' west winds on the West Coast meant the only flight to Hokitika this morning was cancelled.

Another Crusaders trip to the West Coast has been tentatively planned for Wednesday, February 23.

The Crusaders will also wear the West Coast rugby jersey for their first home game of the season against the Waratahs on Friday March 4.
