Facebook users have helped police identify and charge a man with a Whakatane theft.
Bay of Plenty police have charged the man with the theft of computer equipment from Dick Smith.
The arrest followed an appeal for information on the Bay of Plenty police Facebook page last month.
Earlier this month, police credited the media and social media with helping lead to the arrest of a man suspected of fraud in the Taupo area.
A man suspected of committing offences against tourist accommodation providers has been arrested.
As a result of publicity, a member of the public spotted someone fitting the description of 44-year-old man in Taupo.
He was quickly arrested and had appeared in court facing a number of burglary and fraud charges.
Police thanked the media and the social media community for assistance in circulating the appeal.
