Name suppression has been lifted for a man accused of a rape for which David Dougherty was wrongly jailed and subsequently paid out almost $900,000.
Nicholas Paul Alfred Reekie, 31, is accused of abducting an 11-year-old from her home in New Lynn, West Auckland, in 1992 and of raping her in a nearby garden.
Reekie, described in court documents as being of no fixed abode but originally from West Auckland, appeared in the Waitakere District Court on Wednesday.
