Adventure racing: Tight finish for NZ team

New Zealand team Pharmanex finished second in the first Discovery Channel world championship adventure race in Switzerland.

They were beaten by the Finnish team, Nokia, who crossed the finish line in Zermatt in a time of 96h 57m.

The New Zealand team, of Kathy Lynch, Jeff Mitchell, Nathan Faavae and Neil Jones, were 3h 24m back.

They were in the lead bunch throughout the race, which began in St Moritz last Monday, and were only overtaken by the Finns during the final stages of the event.

Lynch proudly rode through the finish line carrying a black and white Silver Fern flag.
