Police say there is no evidence anyone is missing in relation to a boat found capsized off Port Waikato this afternoon.
Authorities put out an appeal earlier today, urging the owners of a vessel found upturned in the area to come forward.
A police spokesman said just before 9pm the Maritime Police and Coastguard were no longer searching the area and that no evidence suggesting anyone was missing had been found.
"This [situation] will be reassessed in the morning,'' she said.
"Police would like to reiterate that call for information about the boat and its owner.''
The boat, located about 1.30pm, is light grey and has the name "Parauroa'' printed in capital letters.
Attached to the vessel is a red Suzuki brand gasoline tank and a length of striped yellow rope.
At this stage, no one has been reported missing.
Police want to locate the owner and asked anyone with any information to contact the police maritime unit on 0800 102 835.
