Kiwis might be nursing their first sunburn of the season after a sunny weekend graced most of the country.
On Saturday northern and eastern parts got up to 24C. But it would have felt even warmer for those basking in the sun, Met Service meteorologist Sarah Haddon said.
"Gisborne got up to 24C and Northland 23.5C, Hawkes Bay was 22.5C and Auckland got to 18C.
"The temperatures are taken in the shade, if you were standing in the sun at any point it would feel a lot warmer because the sun is directly on you."
A front crossed over the South Island on Saturday bringing showers to the west coast. Haddon said some areas would have accumulated up to 50mm over the whole weekend.
