A Lincoln University spokesman said it took the allegation "very seriously".
"The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is a priority at all times," he said.
He said it was not appropriate to make further comment until police investigations were complete.
Detective Senior Sergeant Anderson said there was no link to a sexual attack where a 48-year-old woman was assaulted near the bend of West Belt and North Belt in Lincoln after she left the Selwyn Sounds concert on March 4 at 6.30pm.
Star.kiwi reported in April that leads in that case had dried up and police were appealing for anyone who had not yet come forward to do so.
