A 23-year-old man was rescued from the Urewera ranges last night after suffering a serious arm injury.
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the small settlement of Ruatahuna at 7.30pm yesterday following the incident.
The man had suffered a serious injury to one of his arms which required immediate hospital care, pilot Todd Dunham said.
"Due to the remote area, the helicopter was first to the scene and the St John paramedic stabilised the man before being flown to Waikato Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
"Half of the flight was conducted under night-vision imaging equipment," Dunham said.
