Two young boys are in a critical condition and a teenager is in a serious condition after a collision between a car and a campervan on Morrinsville-Tahuna Rd in Waikato.

The crash happened at about 10.15am yesterday.

There were five children and adults in the car and a couple in the campervan.

All seven were taken to Waikato Hospital.

From the car, one boy is in a critical condition in intensive care and a teenage boy is in a serious but stable condition in the high dependency unit.

A 12-year-old boy was transferred to Starship children's hospital, a spokeswoman said. He remains in a critical but stable condition.

A woman from the campervan is in a stable condition.

All the people in the car are believed to be from the same family.

The Tahuna-Morrinsville Highway has now reopened following an investigation by the Police Serious Crash Unit.
