Auckland car crash leaves one person injured

A person is in a moderate to serious condition after a gnarly car crash in Auckland.

Two cars collided at the intersection on Great North Rd and Sabulite Rd, Kelston around 12.15am, a police spokeswoman said. One car ended up upside down and severely damaged.

"One person was extricated from the car in a moderate to serious condition."

Fire, police and ambulance all attended the scene.

The road reopened at 2am.

The crash is under investigation.
