A 52-year-old woman was booted in the head by a cow on a farm in Mt Pirongia.

The woman sustained head injuries after the cow attacked her just before 10am on Saturday morning and she was flown to Waikato Hospital.

Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter pilot Loren Haisley said the farm was in Puketotara, at the southern foot of Mt Pirongia. The woman was responsive during the flight.
