Police are searching for a teenager who has been missing for two weeks.

Chicaine Erihe, 16, lives in Waitakere but was reported missing on June 24 when he did not return to his caregivers.

A couple of days later he was seen in the Whangaparaoa area but has not been in touch with friends or family since then.

"Chicaine does have a history of running away but this is the longest period of time that he has been missing without anyone hearing from him, or returning home," said Sergeant Daniel Brown.

"We have made a number of enquiries into Chicaine's whereabouts but are yet to find him.

"We have concerns for his wellbeing and want to hear from him or anyone who knows his whereabouts, so we can be sure he's safe."

Chicaine is Maori, 176cm tall and of thin build.

He has family connections in Whangarei and may be in the area.

Anyone who has information on his whereabouts, are being urged to contact Waitakere Police on (09) 839 0734 or email Daniel.brown@police.govt.nz

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
