Arrest following firearms incident and Levin school lockdown

An arrest has been made by police following a dangerous firearms incident in Levin yesterday.

The Armed Offender's Squad completed a search warrant of a property in the Horowhenua town today, arresting a 28-year-old male and charging him with a firearms offence.

Police said inquiries are continuing.

On Thursday, police were called to the incident about 1pm that left Taitoko School in lockdown.

Police said they have talked to "a number of people" during their investigations.

A cordon was initially set up around Liverpool and Balmoral Streets and the nearby school.
