A second person has been arrested after a woman was found bound and gagged on the side of a road in Dome Valley north of Auckland.

Police tonight said a 28-year-old woman had been arrested. She would appear in North Shore District Court tomorrow charged with two counts of kidnapping and one of threatening to kill.

The woman's arrest comes after a 38-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident yesterday.

He was charged with kidnapping and has already appeared in court.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of further charges and arrests in relation to the incident.

The victim remains in Auckland City Hospital in a stable condition.

She was found by a member of the public on Waiwhiu Rd at about 7am on Monday with serious head injuries.

A police source earlier said the woman was "bound and gagged" when she was found.
