Three visitors and a pilot had to be plucked off Mt Tarawera this afternoon after the helicopter landed heavily causing minor damage.
Emergency services were called after 2pm today after a Volcanic Air Safaris helicopter landed heavily on the summit of Mt Tarawera.
The company's managing director, Phil Barlcay, told the Rotorua Daily Post no one was hurt and the helicopter only suffered minor damage.
"It's certainly not going to be an expensive fix from what we gather at the moment."
Mr Barclay said the firm was in the process of sending a crew to the summit of the mountain to pick up the pilot and the passengers.
