Police called after man spotted standing on Wellington building

Police were called to a busy central Wellington street this afternoon after members of the public spotted a man standing on a building.

Officers were called to Lambton Quay about 12.50 and after discussions with police negotiators, the man came down 20 minutes later and was taken away to receive help, a police spokesman said.

Witnesses reported seeing seven police cars in attendance.
