Man crushed by concrete slab on construction site

A man at a construction site in Auckland suffered serious injuries when he was crushed by a concrete slab today.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Milner Rd in Silverdale about 11.45am.

Police northern communications shift commander inspector Barry Smalley said one man was seriously injured when the side of the building collapsed.

The man had severe lower body injuries, but was not trapped, a Fire Service spokesman said.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said the man was taken to Auckland City Hospital.
WorkSafe New Zealand are investigating the incident.
