A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to steal two vehicles from tourists at a Tauranga camp site this morning.
A 28 year-old man will appear in Tauranga District Court this afternoon charged with robbery and assault with intent to commit robbery, Tauranga police Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazzier said.
Police were called to the camp site at McLarens Falls at 6am this morning following multiple complaints from campers, he said.
A tourist was sleeping in his van when he was woken by a man trying to steal his vehicle, Mr Brazzier said.
Following a struggle, the offender ran off from the scene, he said.
