Two people were flown to Waikato Hospital last night with serious injuries after a two-car head-on smash in the Waikato.
Police say it happened just after seven o'clock at the intersection of State Highways 2 and 25 at Waitakaruru.
One person was trapped and several others injured.
It took an hour for the Fire Service to free the trapped person.
Two of five people involved in the crash were flown to hospital.
Yesterday afternoon one person was killed on Auckland's southern motorway when a car left the road and hit a tree southbound near Drury.
