A few light showers becoming frequent and heavier for a time Wednesday afternoon or evening.
Waikato to Kapiti Coast including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and the central North Island
Fine at first apart from cloud in the west. Brief morning rain, possibly thundery from Taranaki northwards, followed by southerlies and a few showers.
Gisborne to Wairarapa also Wellington
Fine at first. A strong cold southerly change with rain spreading north from early morning followed by showers.
Nelson and Marlborough
Brief rain tonight. Becoming fine tomorrow.
Buller to Fiordland
Rain tonight, briefly heavy, but skies clearing in the morning.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Cold showery southerlies, with the risk of squally thunderstorms in eastern Canterbury. Snow above 500 metres about the Catlins. Becoming fine tomorrow.

North Island, remaining showers clearing in the east and becoming generally fine, but cloud increasing in the west. South Island, some rain or drizzle developing in the west and a few showers in the far south, fine elsewhere.
Friday
North Island, a few brief showers spreading from the south, but remaining dry in the northeast. South Island, a few showers in the west and far south, clearing, otherwise mainly fine.
Saturday
North Island, one or two showers in the north clearing and becoming fine with some cloudy areas in the west. South Island, rain developing in Fiordland and south Westland, and scattered rain in the south, dry elsewhere.
Chatham Islands
On Thursday and Friday, a few showers and fine breaks. Southwest winds. On Saturday, fine intervals. Northwest winds developing.
