North Island, morning drizzle in many places then fine. Fine in Gisborne, then southerlies bring some showers in the afternoon. South Island, mainly fine, patchy rain about Buller and Northwest Nelson clearing, and some showers about the fiords and Foveaux Strait.
Wednesday
North Island, mostly sunny, though cloud increasing from Taranaki to Kapiti. South Island, rain spreading up the west coast and some showers in the far south. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Thursday
North Island, fine, apart from some drizzle in the west at first. South Island, showers in the west and far south. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Friday
North Island, mainly fine, though cloud in the north and west. South Island, showers in the west and far south. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Chatham Islands
A period of rain on Tuesday with northerlies turning southwest. Mainly fine on Wednesday with northwesterlies developing. Showers developing on Thursday with winds tending strong west or southwest.
