Marina development
North Shore City Council wants your opinion on the future of the Bayswater marina. The council is preparing a plan for development in the 5ha area which includes the historic and new reclamations next to the Bayswater marina, and the northern reclamation north of the Takapuna Boating Club. Information packs will be distributed to residents by Friday. For further information, contact Actionline on 486-8600 or visit their website.
Also today ...
It's a big day for sports and culture buffs. Say "happy birthday" to Christopher Guest and Nigel Tufnel, the brains behind those legends in their own trousers, Spinal Tap and Hagar the Horrible. On this day in 1984 our plucky cricketers completed a three-day whitewash of England - dismissing the Brits twice for fewer than 100 runs. Four years later, in a totally unrelated event, Andre the Giant beat Hulk Hogan in the first primetime wrestling match in 30 years.
