A 300-year-old English home was saved from being destroyed by fire when half a dozen bottles of French champagne exploded and doused the blaze.
An electrical fault in a drinks refrigerator at Robert and Elizabeth Lindsay's house at Ottford, in Kent, started the blaze in the middle of the night.
The heat caused six bottles of Bollinger to explode, waking the sleeping Lindsays and simultaneously dousing the flames which had threatened their £1 million ($3.36 million) home.
