It may not be St Patrick's Day yet but lovers of Irish music got a foretaste at Whanganui's Grand Hotel.
Local band Muirsheen Durkin with band leader Michael Smyth on vocals, guitar and mandolin, Lynair Benefield on saxophone, Chris Cantillon on guitar and Karen Miles on vocals and guitar entertained the lunchtime crowd on Sunday.
Manager Werner Lanprechat said the damp weather seemed to have increased people's appetites for hearty food with Irish stew and roast meals being the most popular choices on the menu.
Muirsheen Durkin will play again at the Grand Hotel on the evening of March 17.
