Some welcome rain relief is in sight for Hawke's Bay - MetService expects up to 80mm of rainfall over the next five days.
Meteorologist Cameron Coutts says a trough is moving down the North Island and will bring some much-needed rain with it.
Light rainfall is expected to set in this afternoon and continue through till the weekend, with temperatures hovering between 18C and 21C.
Mr Coutts said the Hawke's Bay region would receive between 50mm and 80mm of rainfall over the next few days.
He also said the next few days of rain would come with cloudy skies and cooling winds, meaning any rain the ground receives will not be dried out.
