"We're very happy with that," chief winemaker Chris Scott said.
What made the tasty treble even more special was that under the terms of entering a wine to be considered for the ultimate collection only one could be entered for each class, so all three Church Road submitted got the expert nod.
Mr Scott was especially pleased the syrah hit the mark with Mr Campbell as he said the winery was a late starter with that variety, not producing the first commercial quality until 2006.
"So it has been a fast learning curve, but this is a variety which is so spectacularly well-suited to Hawke's Bay. You can recognise a Hawke's Bay syrah among any international line-up because it has a really special signature."
Mr Scott said the 2014 vintage tended to get overshadowed to a degree by the highly acclaimed 2013 vintage but said in some ways it was potentially better than the 2013.
The three classes were specifically chosen as they reflected the region's strong winemaking points.
Hawke's Bay Winegrowers Association executive officer Melisa Beight said the Bay had established itself as the country's leading classic red wine region.
"In 2016 we produced 88 per cent of New Zealand's production, in tonnes, of merlot cabernet sauvignon and syrah grapes."
She said Hawke's Bay had also picked up the accolades for its "gorgeous textural" chardonnays.
The "Top 12" selection from 2014 will be packed up and sent out to leading wine commentators and key opinion leaders around the world.
"So they can make their assessment."
As for the potential of the grapes from 2017, Mr Scott said with a smile it had been a vintage of three halves.
"We had a brilliant summer with lots of heat and the lead-up to the harvest was fantastic, but since then we've had a lot of rain and humidity and that created some issues."
But he said good preparation work earlier in the season came to the fore, although some blocks needed to be rescued while others had come through very well.
"I think we will see some pretty smart wines as a result," Mr Scott said.
