MidCentral Health's decision to put a "not secure" water notice on the Pahiatua supply last Wednesday was the "worst outcome" Tararua District Council's chief executive Blair King, says.
While feedback had been received regarding how efficiently the council dealt with the positive E. coli readings at the Pahiatua bore recently, it had been acknowledged the bore might never achieve secure water status again, due to the two consecutive positive tests on the bore sampling point.
A precautionary boil-water notice has been issued on Friday, September 2, and lifted on Wednesday, September 7.
But questions still remain about the source of the contamination.
"Do we have any idea where it [contamination] came from?" councillor David Roberts asked last week.
