A man has been charged with multiple offences after a road pursuit across four Napier suburbs early yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Ross Smith of the police Eastern District command centre said the pursuit started in Tamatea soon after 1am and ended shortly afterwards in Maraenui.
Residents commenting on Facebook reported the pursuit through the streets of Pirimai and Onekawa, with varying numbers of police vehicles involved.
Mr Smith, who was not on duty at the time, was not sure how many vehicles were involved but laughed at one suggestion there had been as many as 12.
The driver of the vehicle being pursued faced driving charges and had also been wanted by police in relation to other matters, Mr Smith said.
