A New Zealand Post delivery driver "blacked out" after her ute collided with another car in Central Hawke's Bay, but the vehicle kept going before crashing into a ditch 300m from the road.
The accident at the Hatuma Rd and Ngahape Rd intersection, just southwest of Waipukurau, happened about 3pm yesterday.
Victim Brandon Pakoti, 22, was driving west towards the junction and described the moment his car collided with the Rural Post ute as he was on the way to work at Silver Fern Farms.
"I was driving along and I saw the red ute, it looked like it had no intention of stopping," the 22-year-old said, lying on a stretcher.
"I got out of my car and just thought, 'but where is the other car?' and that's when I wandered up the road and found a guy on his phone, he must have been calling 111. Then I saw the other car way over here in the paddock."
