Three youths accused of attacking an 18-year-old man in Whangamata -- video footage of which has been viewed more than 260,000 times on Facebook -- have appeared in court.
The youths, who have automatic name suppression due to their age, were remanded today on bail without plea on a variety of assault charges when they appeared in Waihi Youth Court.
Acting on behalf of the trio, duty solicitor Mike Curtis said counsel were yet to be assigned to the 14-year-old and two 15-year-olds, and disclosure about exactly what happened was still to be released by police.
The 14-year-old faces two jointly laid charges of assault and wounding with intent to injure.
One of the 15-year-olds faces an additional charge of wounding with reckless disregard, while the other 15-year-old faces an additional charge of assault with intent to injure.
